Dear Smiley Families:
Greetings from Smiley Middle School! Hopefully, by this time, you have had the chance to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences with your student’s teachers and have heard about the myriad academic and extracurricular experiences we’ve shared so far this year. Thank you for your support as we’ve gotten our school year off to an excellent start!
Students attended our fundraising kick-off meeting earlier this week to learn about the opportunity they have to earn prizes and to contribute in three ways to the Smiley Learning Community. Our fundraising partner, Randy Pote of R+M Fundraising, explained to students that, by selling cookie dough, soft pretzels, and churros, they can earn money for our school to go toward powerful instructional materials for teachers and students; for campus beautification and play equipment; and for the charity of collective staff and student choice. Students can sell these high-quality and tasty items through November 18th—turn in of orders will occur on Thursday, November 19th. Mr. Pote will deliver the purchased items to Smiley on Tuesday, December 8th. If you haven’t had the chance to sample these delicious treats, it is high time! What a way to simplify your holiday shopping! Thank you for supporting and encouraging your student’s participation in the fundraiser. We will provide a full report of our earnings and distribution of funds in December.
You should receive your student’s report card in the mail very soon. If you have not received it by early next week, please be in touch with the office staff at Smiley. You can reach us at 720-424-1540. We want to make sure you have the most up-to-date information about your child’s progress at school. In addition, please be in touch with your student’s team of teachers! The most effective way to reach them is via email. You’ll find every teacher’s email address on our school website: www.smileymiddleschool.org. Our website is under construction right now, but you should still be able to find what you need during the renovation process.
Parents, please remind your students that if they stay after school, they absolutely must be in a supervised activity such as Smiley STARs (after school tutoring), athletic practice, Wyldlife, after school detention, or with a teacher in a classroom. Students are not permitted to linger out front of the building until the late bus arrives. If you are unable to pick up your student until after 3:00, he or she must stay in the school building in a supervised activity until you arrive. Thank you for your support on this matter.
